"I've been working out with Alex for the better part of 15 years -- first in-person and now online. Whether you're just starting to exercise or have been at it for years, Alex will give you a great workout. He will challenge and motivate you. And he is incredibly creative. Here are a few of the reasons why I heartily recommend Alex: He brings a lot of variety to the workout. He changes your workout every four or five sessions. "If I could give Alex 6 stars I would, he is the BEST. I cannot say enough good things about him as a Personal Trainer. In 2016, I moved from the Bay Area, where I'd been working out with him since 2010, and rather than lose my workouts with him, we gave remote training a try. If you have any doubts about this way of working out, you can let them go. Alex has many years of experience and can talk you through everything you need to do. No need to purchase lots of equipment, either - for the first year after I moved, I used gallon water bottles and other household items very successfully, and now I have actual gym-type free-weights, a physio ball, and a floor mat. You could work remotely with him in a regular gym, too, by using FaceTime and some earbuds, if you preferred. Though for myself, doing this stuff in the privacy in my own home is unbelievably luxurious, convenient, and effective. I am in my late 50s and have a variety of physical limitations, but again, Alex knows what to do - when something flares up, we just work around it.
In short, Alex is the best trainer you could have, and working remotely with him is a wonderful way to get your work-outs in in and not have to go out into the weather and traffic to do it. Just think, no germy, noisy, expensive gym, and a new, fit, you (or keeping the fit you) . "

"I've been training with Alex for 6 years now (3 years in person, and 3 years virtually online) and he is an incredible trainer and all-around great person. I've had personal trainers in the past who I liked a lot, but Alex is a cut above. His workouts are personalized and always fresh, and he evaluates you each and every time you see him - nothing Alex does is done by rote. He works you out hard. I see him for 30 minutes 2x a week, and I definitely get my money's worth as every one of those minutes is squeezed to the maximum. However, he's also very careful not to push you beyond your limits, and because of his extensive working knowledge of fitness and exercise, helped me discover some tricks for being able to continue working hard. Alex is really accommodating with scheduling, is always on time, and is never distracted. Beyond that, you can just tell that he's a really good person. "I began training with Alex in 2012, several months before I got pregnant. We then continued to meet twice a week throughout my pregnancy - up until about a week before I gave birth. Working out with Alex throughout my pregnancy had numerous advantages. Not only did it help to keep my weight gain in a healthy range, but it also helped me cope with the nausea and exhaustion I experienced. Throughout each trimester Alex modified my work-out to adjust to my changing body and needs. "What do you want to work on? Why do you want to work out?" This was the first questions Alex asked me on our first session. My answer? To be skinny. Boy has that answered changed in the last 10 months. My mom has been working out with Alex for 11+ years and shortly after Covid hit, she suggested that I give online workouts a try. " I have a little home gym where i workout with Alex online. When I started with him in 2010, my goal was to get stronger and develop more stamina for sailboat racing. "If you are missing the chance to go to the gym, or would be interested in working remotely with a great trainer, I highly recommend Alex. I have been working with him since 2015, most of that time in the gym, but now remotely since 2018. I know all trainers say this, but he truly tailors his workouts to the individual person, on a weekly basis, helping work around minor aches so that you get a full work out. Obviously, you need to have some equipment at home, but it is a full, exhausting work out, obviously convenient, very reasonable cost-wise and believe it or not, enjoyable. "Ten years ago when I was 78 I tripped and fell and broke my right shoulder. Prior to my accident I had been strength training with Alex for about a year. After the surgery, the doctor commented on the muscle development in my right shoulder and said that had I not been as strong, the damage to my shoulder could have been more severe. "Working with Alex has truly been a great experience, one that has really changed my life for the better. When I came to work with Alex, I had a lot of the usual goals that people have - weight loss, get more active, and get on the "right track". "My fiancé and I started training with Alex about a year before our wedding. It was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He is an awesome trainer. The workouts are very straight-forward. You basically do 30 minutes non-stop of exercise. He focuses a lot on the functional movements and constantly builds by adding weight, balance and intensity changes. They are very tough, but not too much to handle. Since starting I've lost around 20 pounds and feel so much better. I can tell I'm getting stronger and feel healthier in my 30s than I ever did in my 20s. Unfortunately, we are moving out of San Francisco and are not going to be able to train with Alex. It was a tough decision and I even teared up a bit when we told him. If we weren't moving we would have kept training with him for life! Overall, Alex is a great trainer and a very nice person. He takes the time to truly understand your fitness level and abilities. He does a great job of explaining the exercises and keeping you motivated to come back week after week. Before you get started with him, he'll go through your medical/physical history which was really important to me, your reasons for coming to him, HIS history and background, and will break down how much of an expert he is on the human body, exercise and physical fitness. Once you decide to go with Alex (which you will because he's awesome), you'll pay for 10 sessions at a time which seems like a lot but its GREAT because it keeps you accountable and makes you go, which I really needed. You'll also work on your food intake and diet and begin to think about and document food in a healthy way with Alex, making healthier choices, and coming up with yummy healthy and filling options. Alex has all sorts of advice and ideas when it comes to this which is great - ask him about his mushroom barley soup! The workouts with Alex are tough, but wonderful. You really will feel it after a strenuous workout, but it will loosen you up and make you firmer in the long run, and if ever the sore day, Alex can give you a massage as he's certified! "I’ve worked out with Alex twice a week for almost two years and our workouts have become a coveted part of my weekly routine. I historically did cardiovascular exercise on my own but struggled with strength training because I found it extremely boring. Every workout with Alex is interesting because each one differs from the last. He is constantly introducing challenging and fun new ways to get fit and every minute is double-time because he works my lower and upper extremities at the same time. "I have been working out with Alex for over a year and while I wouldn’t say I love working out, Alex makes it fun (and challenging). We have longstanding disagreements – he thinks sugar should be banned and I think the occasional brownie is a must – but he does not judge me. The thing I appreciate the most about him is that he doesn’t ask me for more than I can give. He doesn’t compare me to his other clients and their fitness levels (he trains several of my co-workers and they are beasts in the gym, it’s a little intimidating). He learned who I am, what my goals are, about my physical challenges (prior injuries) and he customized a work out plan for me. All he asks is that I show up and try, but he won’t let fear hold me back. He listens to you, adjusts when he needs to and is always focused on helping you be the best you can be. He provides lots of tips for a healthy diet and general health but I have told him I don’t envision a circumstance where I will ever try wheat grass, again we agree to disagree. He genuinely cares about his clients and will go the extra mile for you. He’ll make you sweat (and possibly swear a little if you’re like me) but its worth it. "If you are serious about wanting to make a positive change in your life, you can’t do better than to engage Alex’s services as Personal Trainer. I made the decision almost eight years ago now; I wanted badly to have weight loss (about 40 pounds) that I’ve tried so hard to lose for so many years, and everything that had worked before wasn’t working any more. I more or less had the diet down – I ate what I thought was a very healthy diet – organic, lean protein, whole grains, vegetables and fruits. But my weight and size, though better than I’d been years before, was still not where I needed – for my health – to be; not only that, but at age 49, both were starting to creep up, no matter what I did. I’d tried exercise, too – several times - without much success. I was beyond frustrated; I was kind of desperate. So, for me, engaging a personal trainer was an act of desperation. I hated the gym, I’d never enjoyed exercise for its own sake and hadn’t benefited (in ways I could gauge) from it health-wise before; I’d never experienced feeling better because of it. Also, I’d had an injury to my foot and some back problems – I wasn’t sure if this could work for me. There were the usual time and money excuses too, and finally, I’d always felt kind of looked down on by athletic types. I wasn’t eager to experience that feeling – let alone to pay for it. But Alex is different. He’s very knowledgeable and skilled at what he does, as one would expect a coach to be, but it’s much more than that – he is also patient, empathetic, encouraging, very respectful, and he was able to help me work around my injuries. He takes a bigger picture – that this is a life-long endeavor – and while I must say I was a bit disappointed to hear him tell me, our first session, how long it would take me to lose the weight I wanted to lose, and I admit to being a bit frustrated during the first 3- 4 months with the lack of actual weight loss, it was, as he told me it would be, about gaining muscle, which weighs more (and burns more calories). And, I felt so much better, almost from the first week! Plus, my shape did begin to visibly change within a month. In the first ten months, I’ve lost about half of the weight I think I needed to lose – but I am down almost three sizes from what I was! BUT – most amazing of all - that isn’t even the best part! I cannot believe how this whole thing has actually changed my life. Yes, I have more energy, but not just physical – I have more mental energy, I’m emotionally calmer and more focused; less susceptible to stress and anxiety, and I bounce back much more quickly from things like business travel or working long hours under pressure. I carry myself with much more confidence – in part because I know I look better with the weight loss, but mostly because I just feel so much better, and because Alex has helped me build up the muscles that make standing straighter not only possible but natural.
